“But supermarket eggs don’t hatch!”
And it’s true. You’re not wrong.
Eggs we buy from the supermarket don’t hatch. They’re not the right type of egg!
But that’s kind of the point…
Supermarket eggs don’t hatch. And dead people don’t come back to life.
But that’s exactly what we celebrate at Easter. A dead person who came back to life.
Now, that’s not ordinary. You might even say it’s not possible.
But the person we’re talking about isn’t ordinary… and he was often found doing the impossible.
Of course, we’re talking about Jesus. And this is what he said: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” John 11:25.
Just like the cute little egg, we’re all looking for life. Real life that lasts. Life that is fulfilling and satisfying.
We all look for it in lots of different places:
- making it in our career
- seeing our kids/grandkids flourish
- buying our dream house
- travelling to the most beautiful places
But do any of those things really bring life? True life? Life to the full? What’s your experience?
Jesus said: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) He claims that this life that we’re all searching for can only be found in him. And he offers it to us free of charge.
